The Kharkiv Community Foundation "Toloka" and the Kharkiv-Nuremberg Sisterhood Partnership Partnerschaftsverein Charkiw-Nürnberg signed an agreement to implement a long-term project aimed at stabilizing the psychological state of children and adolescents who have been traumatized by military operations.
Since February 24, 2022, Kharkiv region and Kharkiv have been at the epicenter of Russia's military aggression. Global psychiatric and psychological research shows that hostilities in which children and adolescents are taken hostage have long-term negative results; the longer a child stays in the circumstances of a military conflict, the more serious the psychological consequences the family will have to deal with in the future.
In 2022, the Toloka Foundation, together with domestic and foreign partners, implemented projects aimed at psychological support for children. In particular, the foundation contributed to the implementation of the Art Therapy Days project, which included a number of art therapy activities for young and adult Kharkiv residents using the orphan approach, music therapy, fairy tale therapy, creative classes, etc. with the participation of Ukrainian and British teachers. In addition, the project "Sprouts of Goodness" was implemented, within which children and adolescents from IDP families received psychological support for 4 months, including through art therapy and drama therapy.
