Conference within the framework of the School of Community Foundations

Conference within the framework of the School of Community Foundations

We have returned 25 adults to school! For the third day now, the participants have been attending the intensive School of Community Foundations

The schedule in the diary consists of trainings, practical tasks from the best teachers - representatives of the existing Community Foundations of the Network.

Why is a school important for the formation of a community foundation?

Just like in a regular school, where you learn how to find the cosine or ‘London is the capital of Great Britain’, we teach participants the criteria and principles that an organisation should follow if it wants to become a Community Foundation.

The participants have already learnt the main formulas for community relations, how to increase resources, and what tasks the board should solve and where to look for it.

‘Only through institutional development can your organisation grow. Only when you have an idea of where you are going will you be a capable organisation.’

Larysa Polska, Head of the Board, Kherson Community Foundation ‘Zakhyst’

In addition, we were visited by Mykola Deychakivskyi, Programme Manager of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation's central office, who told the participants about the creation of community foundations abroad.

The school will last about a year and includes the following aspects:

1. School-intensive from existing foundations and invited trainers;

2. Getting a mentor for the organisation.

3. Opportunity to share experience with other community foundations;

4. Receiving a grant to develop organisational/grantmaking capacity.

As the Philanthropists say, ‘We learn every day’!
