The Kharkiv Community Foundation "Toloka" continues to rebuild Kharkiv as part of a joint project with the Kharkiv-Nuremberg Twinning Society, an important component of which is the support of culture and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Kharkiv State Scientific Library named after V.G. Korolenka is the second largest in the country and one of the oldest libraries in Ukraine. The volume of its funds is 7 million copies of documents in various languages. This is a fund of national importance, as well as a digital education hub in Kharkiv. The building in which it is located was built in 1901 according to the project of the architect A. Beketov, it is a component of the historical portrait of Kharkiv.
As a result of shelling in March, the main body of the library, a light lantern with stained glass, which is part of the roof, was damaged in the building, the heating system was completely destroyed, the windows were broken, and two bookstorages were also damaged. On the eve of the rain and frost season, the problem of protecting the roof and windows became particularly acute.
The Kharkiv Community Fund "Toloka" responded to the request for help and has already handed over to the library all the necessary materials for carrying out repair work.
