How to effectively develop philanthropy in local communities?

How to effectively develop philanthropy in local communities?

One of the principles is to create a network. This is exactly how our organisation, which includes 15 local community foundations operating on the principles of Community Foundations, works.

Our organisation strives to disseminate the best practices of philanthropy and create modern forms of civic engagement. We achieve our goal through the services we provide to our members:

Empowerment and Care.

This includes a number of activities to support the development of community foundations. We provide grant support, and provide specialised and narrowly focused trainings at the request of foundations. The network facilitates the exchange of experience of community foundations (as well as youth initiative banks) outside Ukraine.

Communications.

Coverage of community foundations' activities in social networks and media, as well as presentation of their work at international conferences.

Funding.

Regranting for local projects of community foundations and youth initiative banks. We attract donors for specific communities to direct funding directly to the needs of the foundations.

Advocacy.

This area involves the implementation of an advocacy strategy to protect the interests of community foundations, as well as training. We became a member of the Alliance of Ukrainian CSOs, whose main goal is to spread the voice of Ukrainian civil society in the international community, as well as to facilitate access to information and funding for Ukrainian CSOs.Developing a favourable environment for local philanthropy.

We aim to promote social enterprise in communities through training and grant competitions. We are currently actively developing the Dreams in Action project, which aims to support women's social entrepreneurship.

The Harvest Way project is also aimed at developing the agricultural sector in communities through educational activities and providing non-refundable financial support to households in 5 communities where community funds operate.
