"Now I'm not afraid to go outside," these words may seem strange, but they are of great importance to Inessa Balandovych, who lost her sight several years ago due to an illness. Thanks to the School of Spatial Orientation and Mobility, which operates at the Podillia Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation, she learned to form spatial representations, use a white cane to navigate, go on routes with it, and move indoors.
Before that, she had never gone out on her own. Now she is confident in public transportation, navigates traffic lights, underpasses, and even does her own shopping. The school has given her an impetus to move forward and develop her orientation skills. Her dream is to walk the streets of her hometown with her own grandchildren, not so that they have to walk with their grandmother. And we are convinced that Inessa's perseverance and strength of spirit will help to fulfill this wish.
We remind you that the School of Spatial Orientation and Mobility operates within the framework of the project "New Quality of Rehabilitation Care in Vinnytsia Region" implemented by the Podilska Hromada Community Foundation in cooperation with the Podillia Rehabilitation Center with the support of UNDP as part of the project "Support for the Rehabilitation of People with War-Related Disabilities" with financial support from the governments of the Republic of Korea and Germany.
